By the end of this workshop, students will be able to:
- Describe what a UC Personal Insight Question is.
- Implement brainstorming techniques for writing UC PIQs.
Workshop Outline:
Introductions on Zoom, housekeeping, overview of the workshop
Intro activity - icebreaker
What are the UC PIQs?
- What are they used for?
- How are they different from the Common App Personal Statement?
Deliverable:Â
Students will walk away from the workshop with a rough draft of one PIQ.
Writing Coach: Ms. Juliana
Juliana Struve is a life-long educator passionate about helping students achieve their dreams through higher education. A graduate of Vassar College with a bachelor’s degree in English, she also holds a Master’s in International Education Management from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and Certificate in College Admissions from UC Berkeley. Before transitioning to full-time consulting, Juliana worked as an International Student Advisor at UC Berkeley for four years. She has helped students gain acceptance to schools such as Johns Hopkins University, the UCs, Barnard College, etc.
